BEXLEYHEATH LTC - KENT LTA CLUB OF THE YEAR (1 - 4 COURTS) 2022
The Club got its centenary year off to the best possible start by being awarded the prestigious Kent LTA Club of the Year Award at a gala awards ceremony in Maidstone on 11th February.

I must say it was an award that we thoroughly deserved. The award is a testament to all the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by a revamped and rejuvenated Tennis committee these past three years. Fittingly, five of our ten Committee members were present at the ceremony. It truly was a real team effort.

This award I consider has shown the echelons of Kent Tennis, what we already knew – that Bexleyheath Tennis club is a thriving, upwardly mobile tennis club who are well on the way to recapturing past glories. Far too many adjectives, I know, but I am sure you can forgive your Chairman just this once!

We had to submit a portfolio of evidence when applying for the award and this included a requirement to summarise our main achievements. This summary is set out below:-

1) Fivefold increase in membership – 34 members in May 2020 and 168 currently;
2) Facility upgrade - Provision of floodlights and resurfacing of two courts costing £70,000.
3) Increased Income - £40k in three years:
4) Overhaul of underperforming junior coaching (from 1 to 72 junior members):
5) Bexley Mencap weekly usage of our courts. Hosting of LTA Learning Disabilities Tournament - June 2022;
6) Improved offer to members - more teams, box leagues, 3 weekly social play events; online court booking process: internal competitions i.e.D'Mello trophy and Blaver Cup;
7) Establishment of pay and play via Club spark;

Some photos and video of the evening are set out below.

I hope all members share my unbridled pride and joy in our achievement. Collectively we have come so far in a relative short space of time. We absolutely need to continue to rebuild this great club of ours. Facility wise this means resurfacing Courts 1&2 and new perimeter fencing. This will take time but it is now the prime Committee objective.

Please help us by continuing to encourage friends/family to join the Club, sample our floodlights and attend our fund raising social activities, starting with the Top Guns band night on 11th March.
